There are MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of frequent flyer miles out there that are expiring and go unused everyday.
Why don't more people DONATE THEM - for instance to:
'OPERATION HERO' - which lets OUR soldiers in IRAQ
and other places come home to see their families!
Also, MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION for bringing terminally ill children to the USA or other places needed for surgeries, etc.

Brilliant idea! Here is the website for donating air miles and also for other things for our soldiers. I attended a meeting on Tuesday night at American Red Cross specifically for this reason!

The average person who collects has a lot of stress and responsibilities in life, especiallyl considering that they have to use a credit card (instead of a check card for exaple) to get by in the first place. So when the expiration date comes around, I highly doubt that they are aware that their miles are about to get expired. I collect points through my card for another purpose but they always seem to expire before I get the chance to look into how much I have collected and when they will expire. Between driving in traffic, going to work, running my house and doing everything in between, it's no wonder that a bonus collected on a credit card can go expired unredeemed, especially since someone collecting the points usually thinks in the back of their minds that they want to use it one day, considering they have signed up for the program in the first place.

It's almost like saying why do people throw away their leftover food when there are people around the world who are starving. It's not such a logical connection.

Because those of us in the military need them for ourselves.
