One of the best men I ever knew was a lawyer. He specialized in civil defense. He believed in helping out the regular civilian, who didn't know very much about the law, or their rights. I mean, it's a butt-**** of information that you have to learn! So, why should anyone study law? So they can fight the system, within the system, and win. Or use the system to further their own selfish ends. Or to make a good amount of money off of unsuspecting clients. Or because law is a personal interest. Or because being a lawyer gives a person the self-satisfaction of "being someone who makes a difference" in the world.

wow... not the answers I thought I'd see. Perry Mason, Colombo & Jessica Fletcher got me into solving mysteries. Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) was just a wonderful Lawyer & I was (still am) in awe of his work. (He was Canadian, died in 1993.) Anyhow... watch an old episode and watch the way he works the law. It inspired me enough to take an intro to Law course in college and I loved it!... Later in life I played my own Perry Mason role representing myself in my child support court processes. The more people said "You should get a Lawyer" (which I couldn't afford) I learned more and more until I was receiving compliments from Lawyers and even a judge! I study the law now... on my own mostly to learn about social issues like poverty, mental illness etc. And I just love to debate! If I was rich & could afford it I would study Law... but I would also study art & music and things....
Law is facinating.

it would be good to protect yourself against any kind of silly lawsuits that frivolous, or to make a fortune being a lawyer!

So you know what it is. Even if not a lawyer, you'd know what your rights were. Could come in handy.
