If you are at all democratic then you will want a "one person- one vote" kind of world where the only influence and power you should have to change things would be equal to the power of one man i.e. change your own life and lead by example.

If on the other hand you are more left-wing in your outlook then you may want to work at a social or community level. Get involved in voluntary or non-profit groups. Learn the ropes and then start your own for the betterment of the world in your own chosen direction.

If you are more authoritarian you need power and money to affect great change. If you're smart you want to go for business or politics. If you have any charisma you should go for some kind of celebrity (it barely matters exactly what you do). The real trick seems to lie in exterminating any and all opposition with extreme predjudice.

One man can change the world insofar as the world is a subjective environment you pass through. Objectively your actual output in terms of long-term effect will bear little or no relation to your inputted desires. E.g. some dude with a beard tells you to love your neighbour and 2,000 years later you bomb your neighbour in his name.

Realistically? Look at Rosa Parks, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Ghengis Kahn, Constantine, Giacomo Puccini, Ben Franklin, Eli Whitney, Alexander Gram Bell, Michael Angelo...need I list more?

Truth be known, they were catalysts, it took many others to make their actions have such a great impact on human kind.

My personal offering to change the world is to suggest and aid in anti population growth. And to help nature in as many ways I can (realistically).

Do at least one kind act for a stranger every day. Whether it's a mom with three kids trying to maneuver a shopping cart and baby carriage at the grocery store, or helping a traveler with three suitcases from the curb to the ticket counter.

Kindness is contagious. There are not enough kind people around anymore, that's why the world's in such a state of selfishness and suspicion.

I totally agree with mrscmmckim- antipopulation growth!

And what a great example Ghandi was.

I like to believe that I can change MY world by volunteering- I volunteer for parrots and iguanas and became a vet to help as many animals as possible... Will this impact you? No, but it will impact a lot of animals and people...

And I try my best to softly journey through this life doing as little damage to the world around me and do what I can to pick up the pieces of things that others have destroyed. You can too.

Every person has an effect on the world. The way your treat your fellow human being has an effect on the rest of the world.

If you help someone out on the street or work, they might continue the trend and help someone else. If it continues, you have affected more than you imagine.

You can always do more by joining a charity to help more people.

I think one person can only change one tiny part of the world. Such as try your hardest to be honest in most things. The altitude will passed on. The effective take time. Could be as long as one second or thousands of year.

You need to try your best to show other what is right. It may fail or little sucess.

So one can, just little by little.

The fact that you are here makes the world different for someone than it would be if you we not here. If you are talking about major reform then history books are full of people who are directly responsible for change in the world. From Adam (if you believe in that) to the world leaders today.

Don't hide under a bushel barrel, shine your light every day. Others will feel the glow of his love. Start with a smile, a gift of friendship. Teach the children well and time will take care of the rest.

I don't think it's "One" person saving the world but that one person having a certain effect on others that snowballs.

One person cannot change the world because it takes two to fire a nuclear warhead.
