Some ideas...
"A home is more than just a bowl of soup."
"Homelessness can't be solved just with chicken soup."
"A soup kitchen closes at night, even if it's raining. A shelter doesn't."
"Everybody needs a place to call home and a pillow that's not made of solid rock."
Good luck with your proyect, it certainly seems to be an ethical and solidarian one!

Give it to em straight - as in "Look here, pal, a shelter is much more than a soup kitchen - but the like of your tiny mind wouldn't understand that."
Sometimes shooting from the hip works.

A shelter is a place that will provide comfort to the less fortunate in probably the worst time in their lives. It is vital in keeping people alive and helping get back on their feet.

Wow, I didn't think that people would be confused about what a shelter is!
It's a helping hand and a place to go for people who need one.

well... i guess it depends on what you are looking for.
an advertisement? to discuss this with someone or a group? to garner funds from the community?
maybe changing the name of the place to something like:
"TRANSITIONS harbour
'or retreat
'

It's a place to go for those who have no place to go.
