What measures and ideas do you think local authorities and community leaders/ administrators could implement in order to strengthen unity in schools, neighborhoods, or communities?

Community gardens would unify many facets of the community. Provide experience and a project for students (learning how to grow vegetables) and provide produce for the needy. They are also attractive and pleasant to be in and around!
Upgrading playgrounds, community park projects, food drives, these are all good for unifying as well as providing needed services.

Local authorities and community leaders/ administrators could implement tighter budgets and balance the budget. Far to often the Administrator of the County, town or city is someone who was fired from some other County, town or city administration for over spending the budget or misuse of funds. Like our local sheriff told me, their is corruption at every level of government. Until we hold our local, state and federal government responsible for the abuse of our tax dollars they are going to continue to loot our nation. Higher taxes mean fewer jobs, just look at the destruction Obama has caused the economy. I have had 3 months of employment in the past 2 years.
