I am looking for volunteer options to work towards my degree and possibly earn scholarship money?

I am working towards a business degree and wanting to do part-time volunteer work towards my degree. That meaning, I would like to do work that directly relates to my degree and also I would like to earn money towards school (Maybe in a scholarship form or Credits). Do you guys know of a program that will allow this? I am thinking that some schools might have this option.

Also, if there is a living allowance involved in this program, I will not complain! I want to volunteer and do things for my community, but I don't want to be broke and behind on my studies because of it! :)

I am currently going to Wildwood and Saint Charles Community College, but am definitely willing to change schools. I live in the Saint Louis/ Saint Charles area and am wanting to stay here for a year or so, but if you do know of programs in other states, I am interested in hearing about them!

I have looked into Americorps, but I am unable to find a program where I am able to go to school also.

I love working with nature and am hoping to find a volunteer program with this options!

If you guys could please just give me a few volunteer programs that you know of that might have these options! Thank you, I greatly appreciate it!

You could take a year off and do AmeriCorps. I think a few of their programs allow for school during service, but not many. Ten months in the NCCC program would give you an additional $5.5k educational stipend. You can do the program (or any other AmeriCorps program) twice for two stipends.

Don't worry about graduating on time -- there's no required calendar for college. Do it as you're ready for it and as you can finance it.

The trouble with what you're asking is that when you add the "I want to earn money/be compensated for my work" it becomes a job, not volunteer work.

If you are not interested in taking off a full year for AmeriCorps, could you look into a position related to your field?

You could seek an internship, but those usually are once you're further into your major. If you're at a CC right now (smart financial decision, BTW), it's not like you're into your major just yet.

If there's a place you have your eye on to work, you could approach them about establishing an internship for you. This would require a lot of legwork and coordination on your part with the college and the business, but it's not out of the realm of possibility - IF your CC allows for internships.

There are many different types of programs that you can get into for scholarships. What I would do, it certainly Amazon to find a book of scholarships. I forget the name but it has over 10,000 different scholarships that you can apply for that are sorted by state as well as major. This give you good idea of how much funding you might be able to get and you might be able to get awarded a scholarship.

Finding a scholarship does take work but it takes a lot less work than having to pay off a loan for sure.
