Non-verbal communication can mean any form of communication that does not involve speaking.

Primarily, it is used to mean body language, which is the range of gestures and postures that we use to convey the way we are feeling. The majority of our face to face communication is carried out non-verbally.

For example, how do you know someone is feeling angry? Sad? Happy? Nervous?

They don't have to say "I am feeling happy today" - we can tell by their non-verbal communication such as the fact they are smiling.

We can tell huge amounts about someone from their body language, and because so much of it is done subconsciously it can reveal the truth about something even when someone is saying something different.

This makes me thinking that nonverbal communication as an unconscious motion that takes on symbolic meaning then it depends on context of expression. And how people communicate without speaking, can physical expression make people talk to each other and can be understood as speaking, or disable people, blind or deaf people how communicate with full functional people. How people can understand a person from only body language or facial expression...
